Thanks for getting in touch regarding your little ones first photo session. I love photographing the newest members of your family and would love the opportunity to create some beautiful memories and art for you!    I specialise in newborn babies, maternity & family photography and have been a photographer with my own business for 16 years.  I love what I do and I’m honoured to be chosen to photograph beautiful families.

My Newborn Collection price is currently $395 (Normally $599)

If you would like to add a maternity session on prior to baby’s arrival, I offer a discounted package for both of $750 (normally $1000)

Both sessions include a minimum of 30 high res images beautifully edited on a gorgeous wooden USB from each session.   That is the only cost you pay – there are no hidden charges or extras. I do love to see my images in print, so you also receive a $50 print gift card to get professionally printed images through myself afterwards (Price list at the bottom).

BRISBANE TRAVELLING NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m a travelling newborn photographer.  Thats right.. I come to you!  My newborn sessions are done in the comfort of your own home using beautiful natural window light.  I use your due date as your booking placeholder until bubs arrives, and then we schedule an exact date and time once they arrive.    A$150 deposit secures your space which comes off your fee.  The balance is paid on the day of your session.

I am located south of Brisbane city in Jimboomba.  For newborn sessions I cover most of the Brisbane area from Burpengary in the North, to the Redlands coast in the east, down to lower Gold Coast, and Ipswich in the west.    There is no cost for travel within those areas – thats just what I do!    Unfortunately due to travel times I can only cover areas within an hour.  Please enquire about your home location and we may be able to find somewhere closer if its outside my zone.

Unfortunately it’s not practical for me to provide portrait coverage to the Sunshine Coast due to travel time.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT YOUR NEWBORN SESSION

I provide all of the wraps, blankets, accessories and props etc for the session, I bring it all with me.   I want you to be relaxed while I photograph your wee one,  so you are welcome to chill and watch, or catch up on a few things while I work.   All I need at home is a large window/ranchslider or french doors and a clear space of around 2 metres next to this.   A empty bedroom will also work , provided it is free of most furniture.

I do not need direct sun shining in, in fact I’d prefer if it wasn’t shining right in so its not in your little one’s eyes..  Please discuss if you are unsure of your space or think you may not have enough light.   The weather does not effect my sessions.  If it is overcast or cloudy that is no problem – I adjust my camera settings to suit.

Newborn sessions are scheduled in the first 1-6 weeks of age, and they are booked on WEEK DAYS only.   There is no weekend sessions available.

A newborn portrait session with me takes around 1-2 hours.

You can find a gallery of my work here on my website which will give you an idea of my style and what is used in the sessions.   Colours are decided with yourself on the day of the session, so no need to decide now. http://www.sarahdanelle.com/newborngallery.html.

Siblings are included (humans and furbabies!) and also immediate family for an updated family photo together.    If your older children are at school or day care, afternoon sessions are usually arranged if they can’t be taken out of school.    Dogs will only be included if they are trained to sit or lie down on command.   Grandparents can be included by arrangement, but it is limited to immediate family only due to space & time.

I will photograph your little one in a few different poses and I have a hand chosen beautiful collection of wraps & knitted items, handmade hats, tiebacks/headbands, blankets & props for use during your newborn session.  I try to keep these as organic & natural as I can.   These are sourced from all over the world and are unique to my style. More information on this will be provided once you are all booked in.

I am vaccinated against whooping cough & Covid19, and your baby’s safety is my highest priority.

I am only able to use my props & studio items for your newborn session.  Hierloom items can be included, but please discuss this prior to the session.   No hard props will be used.

MATERNITY SESSIONS

If you would like to add on a maternity session before your little one arrives, there is a discount for booking both sessions bringing the maternity session to $355.  If you wish to do a maternity session on it’s own without a newborn session, full session price of $500 applies.  You will receive a USB of files from each portrait session.

Combined package price is $750

Maternity sessions are predominantly done outdoors, but can be accommodated inside depending on the look you are after. I don’t have a studio, but the images below were done in client’s homes.  We will discuss locations together, depending on the look you are after.

Outdoor sessions are best done late afternoon in the hour before sunset or an early morning session if more suitable due to locations.  I will follow the light!  Due to travel times, Maternity outdoor locations are only available south of Brisbane River and west out to Ipswich and east out to Redlands.   They are a mid week session in the early evening after work.

I will schedule your portrait session around 32-35 weeks – just in case baby makes an early arrival.

With all of my maternity portraits you have access to my exclusive maternity wardrobe that is available if you wish. Here are some examples of them all in use : http://www.sarahdanelle.com/mamawardrobe.html

I am also happy to advise on outfits that may be suitable for other family members.

Beautiful images of natural newborns curled up or in their families arms are an incredible beginning to documenting a person’s life, and should not be missed. This is the perfect way to capture the essence & pureness of a newborn. Newborn portraits are different than any other portraits your new baby will ever have.

I take a minimalist approach by eliminating background distractions, and using natural, organic muted colours so your newborn is the primary focus of the image.

Newborn sessions are done in the comfort of your own home, using natural window light.  Everything I need I will bring with me.

How long will our newborn session take?

I let your little one set the pace of the session, which means it could take a short time if they are sleeping peacefully through the whole thing, or longer if needed.

My sessions are typically 1-2 hours and up to 3 hours for twins.  It all depends on baby’s mood and willingness to settle. Unfortunately…this isn’t something we can predict! Remember to be patient, calm and relaxed. If your baby is getting upset and/or not “cooperating”, don’t worry. We have ample time to allow you to feed and get your baby comfortable & give lots of cuddles.

If your baby needs to be fed or a nappy change we can take a break at any time.

Don’t worry if your baby is awake during the session, wide eyed newborn photos are beautiful too! So long as baby is happy and content, I will keep working away.  Some babies are awake for the majority of their session!  I do not guarantee or promise they will be sound asleep.  Remember we are on their schedule.

Most importantly, I want you to relax and feel comfortable while I photograph your baby. Take some time out to sit and relax, while I take care of your little one.

How do I get my home ready for the session?

To create the beautiful images that you see on my website and Facebook page, I require a spot in your house that lets in a large amount of natural light. Usually a lounge or similar area with a big floor to ceiling window or ranchslider/french doors.  Usually not too much space is needed, but I may need to slightly move a lounge suite chair if possible. It will all be put back to normal before I leave!  3×3 metres is a good guage of space and this needs to be as close to the window light as possible.   For family images I use a plain wall in your home, preferably white, cream or grey. If you only have walls that are an alternative colour, please let me know in advance. I may need to move a picture off the wall, but again I dont need a large wall, just enough for you to stand with clear space either side of you.

If you feel your house is quite dark, or you do not have a large window I can get close to for the session, please let me know as we may need to make other arrangements to ensure you receive high quality images. This may mean moving the location of the session.

There is no need to tidy JUST for me, I realise you’ve just had a baby, and things may be a bit chaotic in your household. I only need a small area to work, and I completely understand the chaos !

Crank the heating up! I recommend that the room is kept at a warmer than normal temperature just prior to the session, so your baby is comfortable for portraits with very little clothes on.

In SUMMER it does get quite hot here in Brisbane, so we dont want to overheat.   If you have aircon, please set it to around 26-28 deg so its not too freezing, or if you only have a ceiling fan that will be fine also.   In WINTER I will also bring a small fan heater for use if you dont have heating.   The room needs to be warm – around 28 degrees.   Us adults may feel hot, but your baby will love it and will sleep a lot more comfortably. You may think it is warm enough, but it needs to be fairly warm to ensure your baby sleeps as soundly as they can with little on.

If you have pets please ensure they are put away for the photo session.  A lot of my props and items I bring are very delicate and hand wash only.   Dog/cat hair in particular can get into all sorts of places, and for hygiene reasons of my sessions & other babies, I’d like to minimise this where possible.   If we are including your dog in the session, we’ll bring them out when needed.

Maternity portrait sessions are one of my favourites.I love photographing these sessions as part of a baby and bump collection, as we get to spend a bit of time getting to know each other before the newborn session.

Pregnant women have a unique beauty about them and I love being able to capture this wonder of motherhood for them to remember forever. Not only are they an occasion to photograph your beautiful bump, but it can also be a chance for your and your partner to take a bit of time out and enjoy each other’s company, before your family grows by one (or two) more.

I’ve put together this guide for you, ahead of your maternity session so that you can feel totally prepared. Please let me know if you have any questions.

When should I schedule my maternity session?

I recommend that we plan your maternity session for between 32 and 36 weeks. We want to make sure your bump is prominent enough but before you start to lose energy later in the pregnancy, and of course in case baby decides to make an early arrival! Of course you know your body best, so if you would like to do an early session, or later in your pregnancy, I can accommodate this too.

Where does my maternity session take place?

All of my maternity sessions are done outdoors on location in Brisbane.  They are a mid week session only, typically scheduled for late in the afternoon when the sunlight is best – an hour before sunset.   They can also be done early morning depending on location.   I will work with you to find a location that suits what you are after.   If you have a place that you frequent or that has meaning to you, it would be great to incorporate this in your session. Don’t stress if you are not sure, I have a variety of locations I can suggest that I have photographed before and we can find one that will work best. I allow around 1 hour for your maternity session.

I am also able to create more intimate studio like images in your home if you would prefer, wearing a little less such as lingerie and robes.   Please discuss if you are interested in this.

What should I wear for my maternity photos?

When choosing an outfit, try to find something that will allow me to capture your beautiful curves. I also have a an exclusive maternity wardrobe available for your session including material drapes and dresses which you are welcome to use. I recommend 2-3 outfit changes for your session to give you a variety of looks.

Follow the link to view the Studio Wardrobe available : STUDIO WARDROBE

Please avoid anything bright in colour (such as bright pink or green) or with strong patterns, for both yourself and your partner. Plain coloured tops with jeans or shorts look great on partners.  If you are wearing light colours, I suggest your partner or hubby wear a light coloured shirt also – think pastels like cream, beige, light grey or light blue.  For a darker look, then navy or dark grey look great.  Try to avoid black if you can.

For children and siblings – also plain colours are best and avoid heavy patterns or logos.   They can wear co-ordinated dresses – cream, navy or blush.   Or matching shirts/tshirts and shorts/pants.

If you have something special in mind that you would like to be included in the photos, please bring it along and I will do my best to incorporate it.  I love accessories so feel free to dress up your outfit with nice jewellery, scarves etc.  If you are not sure, please ask prior to your session.

You are welcome to also view my gallery for what a maternity session with me will generally look like.

Can I include my husband or children in the session?
Of course you can. I really recommend having some photos that include your family.  Of course the focus of the session will be on your growing tummy, but it’s always important to capture that very amazing moment of your life with the most special people. We will include photos of you all together, as well as you and your bump on your own.

I do limit the session to your immediate family only however.

Should I get hair & makeup done?
If you have any special requests, such as retouching or removal of blemishes and stretch marks, please let me know at your session so I can make sure you love the way you look. I do recommend having makeup done for your session, if possible. But that’s not essential.   Whatever works best for you normally.   Please bear in mind, with your maternity session outdoors, we will be subject to the weather a little and it may be windy, particularly in exposed areas!  So keep this in mind if you are planning to have beautiful curls done – they may not stick around.   I recommend natural makeup that will photograph well outdoors.

How long does it take to receive my photos?
I know you will be so excited to see your images after the session, I select the best images (40+) from your session & these are edited and ready for delivery after approximately 3-4 weeks.  I will also send you through a handful of images as a preview in the days following your session.   If the session takes place close to your newborn session, I will bring the images along for you to the session.
